Term 3 Catch Up!

FAIRTRADE

Basilio Almonte de Los Santos, from Conacado Cocoa Company, Dominican Republic came to tell P3/4S about Fairtrade. Basilio helped us understand the difference we can make to the lives of hard working people if we spend a little more on Fairtrade products. Basilio was very impressed with our questions and we enjoyed hearing him answering them in Spanish!

We took our learning of how tall a Cocoa Tree grows outside!

ACTIVE SCHOOLS FOOTBALL TRAINING

We have enjoyed our time with Ewan from Active Schools and the P3’s will have the opportunity to put all their football skills into practice when they attend the Fun Fours Festival on the Friday 17th April at Papdale Primary School.

“The developmental 4 v 4’s format is a great opportunity for girls & boys to participate in the game of football in a fun and enjoyable environment irrespective of their abilities. Participants will receive coaching and play four a-side games. For the four a-side games schools will be randomly mixed up. Each group will have the opportunity to play games and receive coaching from Scottish Football Association (SFA) qualified coaches” (Active Schools).

TORTOISE FUN!

Thank you Iestyn’s Mum and Dad for taking in your family’s pet tortoises,
we all want one!

RED NOSE FUN!

P3/4S did a wonderful job making themselves ‘Funny for Money’ for Red Nose Day 2015.

TAG RUGBY

Just discovered these photographs, what a fun time we had!

5 TICKS!

Playground staff have been rewarding classes who can line up after break in calm and sensible manner with a tick, 5 ticks means an extra 15 minutes playtime.

P3/4s had great fun when they achieved their extra 15 minutes!

GOLDEN APPLE TREAT

P3/4S, well done for achieving all your Golden Apples and earning a free choice PE session.

You have chosen a visit to the local park as a reward for the next time you achieve all your Golden Apples, remember to help each other learn to earn yourselves all those Golden Apples!

FUDGE FACTORY VISIT

We had a great learning experience during our visit to the ‘Fudge Factory’. We learned about the history of the factory, jobs people do in the factory, how the fudge is made… and thanks to Jenna’s kindness, how delicious Orkney Fudge tastes!

ROLE PLAY FUN IN OUR OWN FUDGE FACTORY!

GRUFFALO SCOT'S LANGUAGE EVENT

We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to attend this exciting opportunity to listen to Orcadian dialect through the context of the wonderful story of ‘The Gruffalo’!

Into Film and Education Scotland collaborated to bring together this event where the popular animation film of The Gruffalo was screened before being read in Orkney dialect by Alison Millar.

We took part in a Q&A session and an educational activity relating to the language used.

This event was a taster of a new educational resource currently being developed by Into Film due to be launched in May 2015.
